98th Birthday of Bongobondhu celebrated in Toronto

Canada Bongobondhu Porishod celebrated the 98th birthday of the father of the nation of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “Bongobonghu”, literal meaning of which is “the friend of Bengalis”, is a title bestowed upon Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by millions of Bangladeshi people out love and respect for their leader. At a discussion on the life and works of Bongobondhu hosted at Mizan Complex Auditorium on Danforth, Toronto, the speakers talked about his life, struggle and sufferings in leading the nation to independence and his dreams to make Bangladesh recognized as one of the best places to live in.

Among the speakers were prominent singer Farhana Shanta, renowned poet and writer Asad Chowdhury, Poet Delwar Elahi,   Dr. Mozammel Khan, President of the organization Amin Miah, actor and cultural activist Ahmed Hossain, Awami League leader Hasina Akhtar, writer Himadry Roy.
